Overview – VG10 Viscosity Grade Bitumen

VG10 Bitumen is a viscosity-graded bitumen with moderate fluidity, commonly used in road construction and industrial applications that require controlled flow and performance at medium temperatures. The term “VG10” refers to its viscosity range at 60°C, making it ideal for spraying, surface dressing, and cold weather paving projects where easy application and good coating properties are essential. This grade is also a suitable replacement for Penetration Grade 80/100 in many climates.

Viscosity Grading and Technical Standards

Unlike penetration grading, viscosity grading focuses on how resistant bitumen is to flow under applied force at a specific temperature. VG10 is tested under ASTM or IS:73 standards using viscometers, such as the Brookfield or Saybolt Furol viscometer, to determine its viscosity at 60°C and 135°C. The controlled viscosity ensures stable performance during mixing, pumping, and compaction—especially important for mechanized road works and bitumen emulsion production.

Applications and Benefits

Bitumen VG10 is widely used in surface dressing, paving of low to medium traffic roads, spray applications, and as a base for bitumen emulsions. Its balanced flowability allows for excellent workability while maintaining strong adhesion and waterproofing performance. At iranbitumen, we deliver high-purity VG10 Bitumen in export-grade packaging such as steel drums, jumbo bags, or bitutainers, depending on your project needs. Whether you’re looking to buy bitumen in bulk or need a dependable bitumen dealer to help export VG10 internationally, our ISO-certified factory and logistics team are ready to support you.
